Can I work while I am applying for an employment-based immigration green card?

When will I be able to start working after applying for an employment-based immigration green card?

Answer:

Employment-based immigration generally takes 3 steps.

1^st step: LC approval (Labor Certification) through PERM

2^nd step: Apply for I-140

3^rd step: Apply for I-485

You must get a work permit, which you can apply for at the 3^rd step, in order to begin working at your corresponding company unless you don’t have EAD or work permit based on your immigration status.

LC is not a work permit although It says Labor Certification Process.
